Piedmont

Piedmont is a small, two square mile, wealthy residential community known for its charming homes and estates, tree-lined streets and top ranked public schools. In the Roaring Twenties Piedmont was known as “The City of Millionaires” as there were more millionaires living there than any other city’s millionaire per square mile ratio. These large estates are still standing in the heart of Piedmont today. Homes in Piedmont range from large expansive estates to more modest homes on the edge of town. The city has strict guidelines requiring all homes maintain their original flavor and to always have well landscaped yards.

Piedmont enjoys the abundance of cultural and recreational activities of its neighbors - Oakland and Berkeley ensuring residents don’t miss out on the latest restaurant or movies. Piedmont is able to maintain its small town life including having a police department, fire department, public works department and a school system while being completely surrounded by Oakland.

Piedmont remains one of the top choices for executives and professionals who want to enjoy community life while remaining close to large centers of commerce.
