In 2010, Travel and Leisure Magazine announced Alameda as one of the top ten American “Coolest Suburbs Worth a Visit” filled with Victorian homes on tree-lined streets, well-kept beaches, amazing views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge and excellent restaurant and shopping! Along with that, Alameda is home to the Pacific Pinball Museum and a newly restored Art Deco movie palace - Alameda Theater.

If you are more of the outdoorsy type you can enjoy a long walk or bike ride along the Alameda Creek Regional Trail or the underrated Bay Farm Island Shoreline Trail. Escape the hustle of the Bay Area while enjoying two and a half miles of beaches, tide pools and dunes at Crown Memorial State Beach which is homes of Crab Cove and the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary.

Community pride runs high in Alameda which hosts numerous community events throughout the city. Every second Friday of the month enjoy the Friday Art Walk. The largest antique show in Northern California takes place at Alameda Point Antiques Fair on the first Sunday of the month.  If walking around and getting good deals on products is more your style head down to the West End Flea Market on Saturdays at the College of Alameda. Over Mother’s Day weekend have fun at the Downtown Alameda Craft & Wine Spring Festival. Head down to Crown Memorial State Beach in June for the Sand Castle and Sand Sculpture Contest to show off your sand castle making skills! The second Friday of June, July and August have a good time with the family at the free Concerts at the Cove. The 4th of July Parade Alameda host’s is the largest 4th of July Parade in the nation! You will want to get there early to get a good spot on the street. The last weekend of July you won’t want to miss Alameda’s biggest free event Downtown Alameda’s Art and Wine Faire where tons of arts and crafts booth, food and beverage vendors, live music and kids’ zones will be set up. Father’s Day weekend bring the whole family out to enjoy the carnival-like setting at the Island JAM! Downtown Alameda Classic Car Show takes place the second Saturday in October and is one of the best car shows in the Bay Area. Do you love going around town and looking at the best Christmas lights in the area? If you do you will not want to miss Alameda’s Christmas Tree Lane a tradition since 1938. 55 houses along Thompson Avenue decorate their houses with luminous winter dreamscape. These events are just a handful of the community events Alameda hosts.
